Tuam Finds 22 More Infant Remains Total 99
The Tuam excavation has recovered 99 infant remains, with 22 newly found, as researchers continue digging outside the memorial garden to identify victims who died at St Mary’s between 1925 and 1961; the team has collected 62 DNA reference samples to aid identification. While earlier estimates suggested hundreds buried in a sewage system, the ongoing work focuses on linking the remains to names through documentation, digs, and DNA analysis, conducted under the Office of the Director of Authorised Intervention Tuam.
