Sunrise Expansion Construction Begins, Boosts BC LNG
Enbridge has begun the $4‑billion Sunrise Expansion on the Westcoast natural gas system in British Columbia, adding up to 300 million cubic feet per day of capacity through roughly 140 kilometres of new pipeline and 11 looping segments to support LNG exports such as Woodfibre while keeping Indigenous participation an option. Government and industry supporters say the project will boost Canada’s GDP, create about 2,500 construction jobs, generate roughly $700 million in tax revenue, and emphasize domestic steel use and Indigenous collaboration as part of Canada's energy-and-reconciliation agenda.
