Two killed in University of Chicago shooting
Police responded to the 5900 block of South Ellis Avenue in Hyde Park around 5:35 p.m. and found a 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the head. Both victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition and were later pronounced dead. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and Area One detectives are investigating. The shooting occurred on the south end of the University of Chicago campus near Midway Plaisance Park, with ties to Harper Quad and the ice skating rink. Authorities have not released the victims’ identities and have not established any connection to the university, and the case remains under investigation.
