US to Host Inaugural Women’s Club World Cup
The United States will host the inaugural 19-team FIFA Women’s Club World Cup from January 5 to 30, 2028, with host cities still to be announced. Six clubs will compete in a play-in phase, with the three winners joining 13 teams in the group stage; seven clubs have already qualified: Arsenal, Barcelona, Gotham FC, Club América Femenil, Naegohyang Women’s FC, Corinthians and Wuhan Jiangda. FIFA cited the United States’ event-hosting infrastructure and strong interest in women’s football in selecting the country, while the new tournament is intended to showcase the global growth of the women’s club game.
