Five Killed in Kraków Shooting; Suspect Hospitalized
A gunman opened fire from a moving car in Kraków’s historic Main Market Square around 3 p.m. Saturday, killing six people and injuring at least 15, including two police officers. Officers shot and arrested the suspect, a Polish man in his mid-20s, who was hospitalized and remains under police guard. Authorities said he held far-right and ultranationalist views, and Poland’s defence minister called the attack an act of terror. Three more bodies, believed to be the suspect’s close relatives, were found at his home, bringing the reported death toll across both scenes to nine. Investigators are examining the circumstances and motive; Kraków declared a period of mourning, and leaders abroad expressed condolences and solidarity with Poland.
