Airwars and the Associated Press mapped the Lamerd strikes and found that US-made Precision Strike Missiles killed civilians up to 50 meters from detonation and caused damage far beyond that radius, prompting warnings from weapons experts that such missiles should not be used near populated areas. The US military has acknowledged using PrSMs in Iran but denies striking Lamerd, while analysts emphasize the weapon’s midair fragmentation and potential for widespread harm as production continues for broader use.
