Reception

In his review of the album for Allmusic, Eduardo Rivadavia considered Astrology to be: " ... as over the top and pretentious as power metal gets – in a good way. ... the disc features 12 songs (plus nifty intro) dedicated to the 12 signs of the zodiac, and resulting in a semi-concept album sure to entertain committed power metal enthusiasts. Stand-out tracks like "Psychotically Deranged," "Souls and Flesh," and "The Astrologicon" offer stellar musicianship, lightning fast staccato riffing, generous use of melodies, and, of course, soaring, ear-piercing vocals from the barrel-chested Sean Peck."

Notable quotes

“Such is the way of all superstition, whether in astrology, dreams, omens, divine judgments, or the like; wherein men, having a delight in such vanities, mark the events where they are fulfilled, but where they fail, though this happen much oftener, neglect and pass them by.”
— Francis Bacon, Novum Organum, § 46
“Astrology is to exact astronomy what psychology is to exact physiology. In astrology and psychology one has to step beyond the visible world of matter, and enter into the domain of transcendent spirit. It is the old struggle between the Platonic and Aristotelean schools, and it is not in our century of Sadducean skepticism that the former will prevail over the latter.”
— H. P. Blavatsky, Isis Unveiled: A Master-Key to the Mysteries of Ancient and Modern Science and Theology (1877)
““Listen to what it says in the horoscopes: ‘If it is your birthday, there may be an increased amount of mail. Expect gifts, friendly salutations from people and the occasional surprise. Possibility of cake.’ That’s so weird—I wonder if any of it will come true?””
— Jasper Fforde, First Among Sequels (2007), ISBN 978-0-670-03871-8 p. 48
“He considered horoscopes as silly as spectacles on a cow.”
— Robert A. Heinlein, Between Planets (1951), Chapter 4
“Astrology is the psychology of the Universe”
— Meditation for October 8, The Day of High Romance, in the book The Secret Language of Birthdays by and Joost Elffers
“There may have been some time in the past when a group calling themselves astrologers could produce results. I don’t know, and the matter doesn’t interest me, for I live in the present. In our time the men working in the name of astrology are incapable of producing results, are conscious frauds.”
— Vernor Vinge, Apartness (1965), reprinted in The Collected Stories of Vernor Vinge, p. 145
