In Greek mythology, Cadmus was the legendary founder of Boeotian Thebes. He was, alongside Perseus and Bellerophon, the greatest hero and slayer of monsters before the days of Heracles. He is the son of Agenor, the ruler of a Phoenician kingdom, and his wife Telephassa, although some sources provide differing parentages.
