Deposed Queen Yun, of the Haman Yun clan, was the second wife of King Seongjong, the ninth monarch of Joseon, and the biological mother of the tyrannical Yeonsangun. Remembered as one of the most infamous women in Korean history, she was queen of Joseon from 1476 until her deposition in 1479. Her ousting and subsequent forced suicide by poisoning became a source of recurrent political turmoil, culminating in the Second Literati Purge.
