Enamorada ("Enamoured") is a 1946 Mexican melodrama film directed by Emilio Fernández and starring María Félix and Pedro Armendáriz. It was shot at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico City and on location in Puebla. The sets were designed by the art director Manuel Fontanals.
The film was remade in 1950 as The Torch with Armendáriz repeating his role alongside Paulette Goddard who was credited as an associate producer on the film.

Plot
During the Mexican Revolution, the zapatista general José Juan Reyes (Pedro Armendáriz) leads his revolutionary troops in the military capture of the town of Cholula, Puebla. Driven by class consciousness, Reyes immediately confiscates the assets and demands heavy financial contributions from the town's wealthy conservative elite to fund the revolutionary cause. However, his aggressive political campaign faces an unexpected domestic disruption when he encounters the tempestuous Beatriz Peñafiel (María Félix), the proud and rebellious daughter of Carlos Peñafiel (Miguel Ángel Ferriz), the locality's wealthiest and most influential landowner.
Initially, Beatriz treats the general with absolute disdain, openly defying his martial authority and physically striking him during a public altercation. Intrigued by her fierce independence and upper-class poise, Reyes falls deeply in love with her and shifts from political intimidation to romantic courtship, attempting to win her affection through grand gestures of humility. Beatriz consistently rejects his advances, choosing instead to honor her formal engagement to the wealthy, conservative American businessman Eduardo Roberts (Eugenio Rossi).
The sociopolitical dynamic reaches a crisis point when federal troops launch a counter-offensive to retake Cholula. Forced to choose between her secure, aristocratic future with Roberts and the dangerous, egalitarian ideals embodied by the general, Beatriz experiences a profound ideological shift. As Reyes and his troops begin their tactical retreat from the town, Beatriz abandons her wedding preparations and her family estate, choosing to follow Reyes into the uncertain battlefields of the revolution.
