About Ether

Ether was an experimental music project by John Watts, released under the name Fischer-Z. After releasing two successful solo albums and one album of remixes, since the last Fischer-Z album, Stream, John Watts had started to take an interest in creating big beat music. After creating a whole big beat style album in 1999 entitled Bigbeatpoetry, Watts carried on in a similar style for Ether. He recorded a number of songs, featuring only his guitar and voice, and then put them over cut-up beats as a rhythm track. Watts had also added a filmic touch to the project, he travelled throughout Europe and post-9/11 New York City to find musicians at random and record them using his laptop, in their homes and on the street. Sarah Vermeersch filmed & edited the process into a road movie. Ether was further released as a John Watts solo album, including the road movie DVD and a CD of tracks from the Ether album that appeared in the movie.

Christa Pike's scheduled execution has been halted at the last minute after a U.S. appeals court agreed to review whether her history of childhood abuse was properly considered when she was sentenced to death. The 50-year-old was due to be executed by lethal injection at 10am local time in Tennessee, which would have made her the first woman executed by the state in more than 200 years. The stay was issued around an hour before the execution was due to take place, with the court yet to say how long its review will take or when it will rule. Pike had already refused to choose a final meal, after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee denied clemency and the U.S. Supreme Court declined to stop the execution.Daily Mail

Former special counsel Jack Smith was pressed by Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) on Tuesday during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee about whether he attended a NBA game between the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors in Atlanta in early February 2024. Smith said he “definitely did not go" to an Atlanta Hawks game. "I think you've already perjured yourself," Schitt said during the exchange, calling Smith a "total dirtbag." Smith said he instead attended a Maryland-Iowa women’s basketball game to see Iowa star Caitlin Clark play. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) suggested Schmitt had confused the Iowa Hawkeyes with the Atlanta Hawks and said Smith deserved an apology.cbsnews
