Frances Marie Clark Butler was a faculty member in the (now-defunct) Design Department at the University of California, Berkeley, and later at the University of California, Davis; she was also a textile artist, a clothing, book, and garden designer, and co-founder of Goodstuffs, a textile-printing company.
