About La Cage aux Folles
La Cage aux Folles is a 1973 French farce by Jean Poiret centering on confusion that ensues when Laurent, the son of a gay Saint Tropez night club owner, brings his fiancée's ultraconservative parents for dinner. To avoid ruining Laurent's relationship, Georges and his partner Albin, a professional drag performer known as "Zaza Napoli", must masquerade as a heterosexual couple. Albin, in particular, has to pass as an actual woman, which involves toning down his usual stage mannerisms.
