Melekessky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,472.3 square kilometers (1,340.7 sq mi). Its administrative center is the city of Dimitrovgrad. Population: 36,718 ; 40,272 (2002 census); 42,023 (1989 Soviet census).
