Verus Ethereum Bridge Drains $7.54M in Second Attack

The Verus Ethereum Bridge has been hit again, draining about $7.5 million in unbacked payouts after attackers exploited the same vulnerability, entry path, and contract as the May breach, suggesting the flaw remains unremediated. Security researchers warn that persistent cross-chain vulnerabilities threaten DeFi security and call for stronger audits, continuous monitoring, and rapid incident response; funds have also been laundered through methods like Tornado Cash in some reports.
