CSB Bank Q1 profit rises; shares fall
CSB Bank reported a 26% year-on-year rise in net profit for Q1FY27 to ₹150 crore, supported by strong net interest income of about ₹479 crore. Total income climbed to ₹1,516 crore, with interest income also higher, while provisions rose to ₹49 crore from ₹23 crore in the previous quarter. Asset quality showed mixed signals, with gross NPAs at 1.75% (up from 1.66% QoQ) and net NPAs at 0.39% (slightly better than 0.40% QoQ), and the bank’s provisioning reflecting caution. The bank’s deposits stood at ₹45,415 crore and gross advances at around ₹40,309 crore, with gold loans surging nearly 47% year on year, contributing to a 26% growth in overall business to ₹86,282 crore. The capital adequacy ratio remained strong at 19.96% and the ROA improved to 1.09%, while the net interest margin eased to about 3.66%. CSB Bank’s shares declined roughly 5% to 7% in intraday trading on July 22 after the results were announced.
