Liverpool FC and Merseyside Police led a joint operation targeting ticket touting, seizing over £1.2m in assets. The investigation analyzed nearly 700,000 ticket registrations from last season and resulted in 432 lifetime bans and 115 indefinite suspensions. Two individuals have been convicted and another is due in court next month, with assets detained under the Proceeds of Crime Act and the proceeds split between the police and the Home Office. The crackdown saw 67,663 suspected fake accounts blocked or canceled, and 121,379 still under investigation. There was a 33% rise in burner phones identified or seized on match days, as authorities target online and in-person touting. The effort is part of a wider campaign against ticket fraud, with Liverpool noting significant account closures and ongoing enforcement to protect genuine fans.
