FCA taps Anthropic for AI Supercharged Sandbox
Anthropic will provide access to Claude, including Claude Code and Claude Cowork, to participants in the FCA’s Supercharged Sandbox, a controlled testing environment for AI in finance. A second cohort of 21 organisations, including Scottish Widows, Money Advice Trust and TrueLayer, has been selected after 199 applications—an increase of about 51% from the first cohort. Participants will explore AI use cases such as widening access to financial services for underserved consumers, fraud and financial crime detection, AI governance, and improvements in compliance and automation, with support for agentic payments and other applications. The FCA has also launched the Agentic Academy, a 10-week specialist AI program delivered with the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, to help firms develop and deploy agentic AI. The initiative builds on previous Digital Sandbox efforts and partnerships with NayaOne and NVIDIA, and it began in 2025 to support safe experimentation during discovery and development.
