Three killed in Oregon midair helicopter collision

Three people died when two helicopters collided in midair near McMinnville Municipal Airport in northwest Oregon on Oct. 29. Sheriff Sam Elliott said the Robinson R22 carried flight instructor Maddie Aasbo, 22, and a student pilot from the United Kingdom; the Airbus helicopter’s sole occupant was Tyler Sturdevant, 38, of Newberg. One aircraft was operated by Jerry Trimble Helicopters, a local flight-training company. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
