Indiana University will open its exhibition slate with a home-and-home series against Butler, marking the first trip to Hinkle Fieldhouse for IU in more than 30 years. The exhibition against Butler is scheduled to take place on October 11 at Hinkle, with time and TV designation to be announced; a rescheduled Butler-Indiana State game moves to Oct. 18 in Bloomington. This marks Butler’s first year under head coach Ronald Nored, while Indiana will also play North Carolina at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Oct. 18 and Western Kentucky on Oct. 25 as part of a three-game October exhibition stretch. The series represents IU’s continued long-running rivalry history with Butler, who previously hosted IU in 1993 and will return the 2027 exhibition to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The two programs have met 55 times, with IU holding a 40-15 all-time edge, and the October encounters will set the tone for both teams’ revised rosters and early-season expectations. Indiana’s October schedule also reflects broader adjustments in college basketball exhibitions this season, aiming to balance traditional rivalries with new coaching eras.
