KAIST and NVIDIA announced the creation of the Nvidia-KAIST AI Joint Research Center at KAIST’s Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI to develop next-generation agentic AI tailored to the Korean language and domestic industries. The partnership, backed by a $300 million investment over five years, will provide annual AI computing resources and full-stack NVIDIA technology, including Nemotron models, through local cloud partners. The center aims to secure foundational AI technologies, cultivate global talent, and strengthen South Korea’s industrial competitiveness, with plans to support at least 10 KAIST researchers each year and offer NVIDIA internships and full-time research roles. KAIST President Bae Choong-sik described the collaboration as a starting point for a strategic, long-term research hub that bridges academia and industry. Nvidia’s leadership highlighted the initiative as a platform to advance Korea-specific AI models and agent systems, optimized for the Korean language and local industries, while leveraging NVIDIA’s global AI ecosystem. The collaboration will be officially launched with leadership from KAIST and Nvidia, signaling a sustained program to attract world-class AI researchers to Korea and accelerate domestic AI development.
