Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max but Skips Standard Model

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with preorders opening in India on September 12 and sales beginning September 18; the phones start at $1,199 and $1,299 in the United States, respectively. They feature a 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, larger vapor-cooling chambers, variable-aperture cameras, improved imaging and video tools, smaller Dynamic Islands, longer battery life, faster wireless charging and iOS 27 with new Apple Intelligence capabilities. Apple has also introduced the $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo, while the standard iPhone 18 has reportedly been deferred to 2027. In India, the iPhone 17 now starts at ₹99,900—₹17,000 above its previous price—and other models have also become more expensive, with memory and component costs cited as factors; the price increases may drive consumers toward older inventory and refurbished devices. Apple has discontinued the iPhone 17 Pro models and introduced new cases and redesigned MagSafe accessories.
