Trump Cancels Livestream of Hasan Execution
President Donald Trump reversed plans to livestream the December 3 firing-squad execution of former Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan, convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 at Fort Hood in 2009. Trump had argued that broadcasting the execution could deter terrorism, but said it would not be streamed after widespread criticism and concerns that footage could aid extremist recruitment. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the livestream proposal, which drew bipartisan opposition, including reservations from Vice President JD Vance and criticism from military leaders and others. Immediate family members of the victims may attend in person if they choose; the execution remains scheduled.
