China Advances Orders for 150 Boeing Jets

China is moving ahead with its May commitment to buy 200 Boeing aircraft, with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer saying about 140 are progressing and paperwork is underway for roughly 10 more. The commitment is being converted into orders by individual Chinese airlines rather than a single purchase, and the customers, models and delivery timelines have not been disclosed. Despite earlier hopes that the deal could expand substantially, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and other observers have played down expectations for a new large order around this week’s summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Boeing is now focused on completing the 200-plane commitment, while the summit agenda is centered more broadly on trade and other bilateral issues.
