Dallas Cowboys running back Malik Davis suffered a hip injury and was carted off the practice field Friday, putting his availability for Sunday night’s season opener against the New York Giants in serious doubt. Davis had won the No. 2 running back job behind Javonte Williams after a strong preseason and a career year in 2025. If he cannot play, Dallas will likely rely on recently signed Emari Demercado and practice-squad member Israel Abanikanda for depth, while Williams handles the bulk of the workload. The injury could also create a need for the Cowboys to revisit former backups Jaydon Blue or Phil Mafah.
