This is not an accurate commentary. Kavanaugh did NOT shoot it down. He declined to get SCOTUS involved in this controversy. RedState has a detailed article by Susie Moore on 9/8/26. The issue is not simple, it is in the hands of lower courts, the newer maps are in place now under a 14 day TRO so it may change again.
This keeps the current lines in place for now, which at least avoids last-minute changes before the next election.
Missouri legislators should get to draw their own districts without the Supreme Court stepping in like this.
The court did the right thing blocking that map. It looked like a clear attempt to lock in extra seats for one side.
