Heintschel sets ACC touchdown record as Pitt routs Miami 59-14

Pittsburgh opened the 2026 season with a 59-14 victory over Miami (Ohio), powered by sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel’s record-setting performance. Heintschel completed 31 of 41 passes for 453 yards and seven touchdowns, tying Pete Gonzalez’s Pitt single-game record from 1997 while setting an ACC record. His touchdown passes went to seven different receivers, including Cataurus “Blue” Hicks, who led the Panthers with 114 receiving yards and caught a 53-yard score. Pitt totaled 646 yards of offense, while its defense held Miami to 289 yards and one second-half touchdown. The Panthers improved to 1-0 and will host UCF next Saturday.

Heintschel looked like a totally different QB than last year, if he keeps this up Pitt's offense could be scary good.
Miami of Ohio isn't a great measuring stick but you still gotta go score every time you touch the ball, credit to Pitt.
Seven different receivers catching TDs is wild spread the ball around like that and everybody eats.
