No. 3 Miami defeated Florida State 43-35 in double overtime. Darian Mensah threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, including the second-overtime score to Malachi Toney, who had 11 catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns and threw the two-point conversion to Cooper Barkate. Javian Mallory ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns, tying the game at 35 with a 25-yard score in the first overtime. Bryce Fitzgerald's interception of Ashton Daniels ended the game. Daniels threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns; Duce Robinson's 75-yard touchdown tied it with 2:49 left in regulation. Mark Fletcher Jr. added a rushing touchdown for Miami. Florida State saw a fourth-and-21, 36-yard completion negated by holding, then had Daniels' end-zone pass ruled an interception after review. Daniels said he thought it was a touchdown and that they can't control the decisions. Mike Norvell said go watch the film and that since the start of football a tie goes to the receiver. Mensah's 153-pass interception-free streak ended on a third-quarter pick. Losses by the top two teams left Miami positioned to reach No. 1; Cristobal said rankings are insignificant and he would focus on the 1-0. Miami hosts Pitt; Florida State hosts Clemson on Oct. 31.
