Raiola’s Late TD Lifts Oregon Past Nebraska
Dylan Raiola entered the fourth quarter with Oregon trailing 14-6 and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Jamari Johnson with 28 seconds left for a 17-14 win over Nebraska. He finished 11-of-18 for 59 yards on a 20-play, 82-yard drive after an earlier 17-play, 69-yard field-goal march. Brock Thomas had started 6-of-15 for 30 yards. Raiola had been benched after a 6-of-19, two-interception outing against UCLA while Dante Moore stayed out with a concussion. Nebraska's last drive ended when Nyziah Hunter went down inbounds with no timeouts. Oregon moved to 4-2 (2-1 Big Ten); Nebraska to 5-2 (2-2). CONTESTED: No outlet disputes the 17-14 final, the 28-second timing of the winning score, or the fourth-quarter sequence. Raiola pulled and snapped his Oregon Ohana wristband as a mental reset. After the Thursday meeting that Thomas would start he said he "wasn't gonna pout" and the group "rallied around each other." Of the UCLA loss he said the play was "very uncharacteristic" and "I felt horrible. I let these guys down," adding "it was all about growth." After the win he said "This game was never about them. It was always about Oregon" and "I owed it to these guys." Lanning said Raiola "did an incredible job" and "He's pretty good on the stage."
