Fahey Starts as Ohio State Falls at USC

True freshman Luke Fahey made his first start at quarterback for Ohio State against USC, stepping in after Julian Sayin was injured and beating out sophomore Tavien St. Clair for the role. He became the fifth true freshman to start at quarterback for the Buckeyes and the first non-five-star recruit to do so in the modern recruiting era. In Ohio State’s loss, Fahey completed 21 of 38 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown; five of his incompletions were drops, but he struggled in the red zone, completing two of 10 passes for eight yards and a touchdown. Coach Ryan Day praised Fahey’s competitiveness while saying the team needed to improve and put him in a better position.
