49ers Defeat Dolphins 35-13 as Multiple Receivers Exit With Injuries

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins 35-13 in Week 2. Mike Evans caught 3 passes for 54 yards, then left in the fourth quarter with a hip injury and did not return. Demarcus Robinson left hobbling. Coach Kyle Shanahan said of Evans: "No it didn’t (seem like a serious injury). It can always change tomorrow, but he would’ve (played) if the game was different. I think he would’ve been able to come back in." On Robinson he said: "That looked most likely like a high-ankle sprain. So, unfortunate there." George Kittle had 4 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Jack Jones (foot) and James Thompson Jr. (ankle) also did not return. Ricky Pearsall is out for the year after MCL surgery, and De'Zhaun Stribling is expected to miss 10-12 weeks with a torn deltoid. Evans, 33, missed nine games last season. Excluding Evans, 49ers wideouts have 15 catches, 181 yards and two touchdowns through two games. CONTESTED: Sources show no dispute on the score, Evans' production, or Shanahan's quotes. Vic Tafur of The Athletic, cited by Ryan O'Bleness, reported Evans believed fine and Robinson a high-ankle sprain, aligning with Shanahan. Next: Shanahan said Evans' status can change the next day.

What each side asserts, disputes — or leaves out entirely.
Whose framing of this story rings truest to you?
Robinson's high ankle sprain will likely keep him out longer than expected, which hurts their passing attack.
Mike Evans looked good on those three catches before the hip issue, and Shanahan's take is probably right that it's minor.
ers dominated with that 35-13 score but losing two receivers early could test their depth fast.
