Zelensky Says U.S. Strike Warnings Are Working Again
After talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in Oslo, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff traveled to St. Petersburg to present peace proposals to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy said Ukraine supports an energy ceasefire and proposed a trilateral summit with U.S. President Donald Trump and Putin, while accusing Russia of rejecting a ceasefire and continuing attacks. Russia launched 16 ballistic missiles and more than 200 drones across Ukraine, striking energy infrastructure in 11 regions, damaging more than 10 facilities and leaving about 550,000 households without power; strikes in Kyiv killed at least one person and damaged civilian buildings. Zelenskyy said U.S. intelligence warnings of Russian strikes were working again, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied Washington had deliberately restricted intelligence or other support and acknowledged possible delays in Patriot interceptor deliveries. U.S.-Ukraine relations remain strained over weapons, satellite connectivity, sanctions relief for Russia and Kyiv’s role in negotiations, as Trump pressed Zelenskyy to reach a deal.
