Qatar, Jordan Condemn Reported Ben-Gvir Entry Into Al-Aqsa Compound

Qatar, Jordan and Palestinian authorities condemned the reported entry of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under police protection, describing it as a violation of international law and an unacceptable provocation. Jordanian officials and the Palestine Committee of the Jordan Press Association also criticized the reported presence of Israeli political officials at the Al-Buraq Wall plaza and in tunnels beneath the site, saying such actions threaten the historic and legal status quo. The statements emphasized that Al-Aqsa is exclusively a Muslim place of worship and that Jordan’s Jerusalem Awqaf Department has authority over its administration. Qatar and Jordan warned that continued incursions and restrictions at Islamic and Christian holy sites could fuel regional violence and undermine stability. Palestinian religious authorities urged the international community, Arab and Muslim countries, and human rights organizations to intervene, also condemning the temporary closure of Hebron’s Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslim worshippers during Jewish holidays.
