Trump Warns of Iran Conflict in Netanyahu Endorsement
U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 election, warning that the United States might have to confront Iran without Israel’s help if voters chose another leader. Netanyahu said re-election would allow them to continue countering Iran, while rival Gadi Eisenkot objected to foreign intervention; polls showed neither bloc near a parliamentary majority. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi mocked Trump’s pledge to “finish the job,” warned Iran had its own “unfinished jobs,” and accused Netanyahu of pushing the United States toward war. Separately, reports citing Saudi and Yemeni intelligence sources said Iran had increased support for Yemen’s Houthis with weapons, training, tactical guidance and targeting intelligence, contributing to territorial gains and more sophisticated attacks; Tehran denied involvement. The Houthis reportedly controlled Yemen’s coastline along the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and targeted Saudi ships, energy infrastructure and airports; a strike on Riyadh’s airport reportedly killed at least 13 people.
