Eagles’ Barkley sells Polymarket stake under NFL rules
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley told Front Office Sports he divested his equity stake in Polymarket. NFL rules prohibit players from investing in or promoting prediction-market companies. The story was published Wednesday. Barkley said, "I am not in that right now. I am not allowed to be in that." He said he kinda had to get out of that. "I was in it before, but no bueno," he said. His Polymarket stake became public last year in a portfolio that included tech startup stakes. The NFL confirmed on Oct. 28, 2026, that it treats prediction markets like sportsbooks under its player gambling policy. It declined to discuss Barkley's case specifically. Polymarket declined to comment. The NFL has argued sports-event contracts on prediction markets should face state regulation like sports wagering. Earlier in October 2026 it asked the U.S. Supreme Court to take up a New Jersey case on federal versus state regulation. The NHL, MLB, and MLS have Polymarket partnerships. The NBA recently announced deals with Polymarket and Kalshi. CONTESTED: Rated coverage shows no dispute on the divestment or the policy. The NFL has not addressed Barkley's specific case. The exact steps of his exit remain unconfirmed by the league.
