Dončić Scores 53 as Lakers Beat Trail Blazers

Luka Dončić scored 53 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Portland Trail Blazers 124-118, overcoming a 16-point deficit and sealing the win with a late floater. A 61-foot buzzer-beater at halftime helped spark the comeback, and Dončić scored 20 points in the third quarter. He now has 361 points through nine games, surpassing Michael Jordan’s modern-era mark for that span, and is averaging about 40 points per game. The Lakers improved to 8-2, moved into first place in the Western Conference and earned their first NBA Cup win. Dončić’s scoring surge has also drawn early MVP praise.
