Hickenlooper Wins Second Colorado Senate Term
Democratic Sen. John Hickenlooper won a second six-year term representing Colorado, defeating Republican state Sen. Mark Baisley and independent Bob Chew, according to the Associated Press projection. The former Denver mayor and two-term governor said the campaign would be his last Senate race and that he intends to serve the full term. His victory keeps both of Colorado’s Senate seats in Democratic hands and bolsters the party’s effort to retain control of the chamber. Hickenlooper’s fundraising and name recognition outmatched Baisley, while Chew campaigned on a platform focused on the national debt.
