Missouri voters reject Trump-backed congressional map 62%-38%
Missouri voters rejected Proposition A on Nov. 3 by 61.8% (1,273,815 no) to 38.1% (785,969 yes), per unofficial results, blocking the 2025 congressional map approved in a September 2025 special session and signed by Gov. Mike Kehoe. The 2022 map remains in place, was used in Tuesday's general election, and Cleaver won reelection under it. Jefferson County voted 44,299 no (57.7%) to 32,474 yes (42.3%). The 2025 map was used only in the August 2026 primary. People Not Politicians collected more than 300,000 signatures. The Missouri Supreme Court ruled unanimously Sept. 3 that the referendum was legal and the 2025 map never took effect. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Sept. 25 that the 2022 map must govern November. Richard von Glahn said: "As we have said since September 2025, people, not politicians, will have the final say. Tonight, we spoke clearly: No DC gerrymanders on our watch." People Not Politicians posted that Missourians pick their politicians and that politicians drew the map for Washington, not Missouri voters. The group reported at least $5.4 million in large contributions since mid-September; Put Missouri First PAC spent roughly $2.9 million earlier but reported no large contributions after July. CONTESTED: no dispute found on the vote totals or court rulings. Nick Schroer posted "8-0 2027" after the Sept. 3 ruling. Whether lawmakers attempt another map remains open; Amendment 6, also on Tuesday's ballot, curbs lawmakers' power to overturn citizen-passed laws.
