Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs drew criticism after appearing to put his hands behind his back following a touchdown in Thursday’s 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers, a gesture many viewers interpreted as mimicking handcuffs. Jacobs said the clip omitted the rest of a celebration planned with teammate Savion Williams and inspired by the gospel song “Break Every Chain,” not his recent arrest. Jacobs missed the first six games while on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list after a May altercation with his then-girlfriend; he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal-damage charges, and a judge convicted him of battery and fined him $1,000. The NFL is considering possible further discipline, including a suspension.

The league should have handed down discipline already instead of letting him play after pleading no contest to those charges.
If Jacobs really meant it as a gospel reference then fans are overreacting, but the timing makes it hard to see it any other way.
I don't buy the gospel song excuse one bit, that celebration was clearly a nod to his arrest and it shows zero remorse.
