Brandon Lowe's eighth-inning two-run homer lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates past the Kansas City Royals 6-5 at PNC Park. The Royals had rallied to a 5-4 lead in the seventh. Ronny Simon hit his first career home run, and Jake Mangum also homered for Pittsburgh. Lowe finished with two hits and 33 home runs this season after homering in four of his last five games. His drive was the Pirates' 96th home run at PNC Park this season and set a franchise record for home runs at their home stadium.
