Orioles place Luis Robert Jr. on injured list amid tight wild-card race

The Baltimore Orioles placed outfielder Luis Robert Jr. on the 10-day injured list with left hamstring discomfort, retroactive to Sept. 5, after he missed consecutive games against the Boston Red Sox. Robert played only three games for Baltimore after being claimed off waivers from the New York Mets on Aug. 31, going 2-for-11 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. He has a lengthy injury history and had already missed significant time this season with a lumbar spine injury. The Orioles recalled outfielder Rece Hinds from Triple-A Norfolk to provide depth. Robert’s absence is a setback for Baltimore, which entered Sunday on a five-game losing streak and three games behind Toronto for the American League’s final wild-card spot.

Hope it's not serious. Losing a middle-of-the-order guy during a playoff push is exactly what you don't want to see happen.
Terrible timing for this injury with the wild card race this tight. O's need his bat in the lineup, not on the shelf right now.
