Bellinger Homer Powers Yankees Past Mets
The Yankees defeated the Mets 6-4 at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 11, 2026, in a Subway Series game held amid solemn ceremonies honoring the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Players wore “We Shall Never Forget” patches, members of the 2001 Yankees were honored, and a giant American flag covered the outfield during the national anthem. Cody Bellinger, whose father played for the 2001 Yankees, delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer in the second inning, while Ben Rice also homered. Carlos Rodón allowed two runs—one earned—in 6 1/3 innings, and David Bednar recorded a five-out save to preserve the victory.
