Rangers Activate Jung, Eovaldi in 6-2 Win

The Texas Rangers activated third baseman Josh Jung and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi before Saturday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, bolstering a team that entered the day three games out of the American League’s final wild-card spot. Jung returned from a left calf strain after a rehab assignment and immediately contributed two hits, including an RBI single, during Texas’ six-run sixth inning in a 6-2 victory. Jung had been hitting .294 with nine home runs and 35 RBIs in 92 games before his injury. Eovaldi, sidelined by right posterior elbow inflammation, returned after five weeks and worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief rather than rejoining the rotation immediately. The Rangers optioned catcher Logan O’Hoppe and left-hander Adam Macko to Triple-A Round Rock in corresponding moves.
