Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo left Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros after a 93-mph line drive from teammate Ketel Marte struck him in the helmet while he was running the bases. Perdomo was evaluated by trainers, walked off the field under his own power and was diagnosed with a head contusion. Manager Torey Lovullo said Perdomo was not in concussion protocol and was expected to be in the lineup Monday, though the team planned to continue monitoring him. Ildemaro Vargas replaced him at shortstop, with Tim Tawa taking over at first base.

Getting hit by a Ketel Marte liner off the bat is no joke, that ball comes off hot. Good depth move with Vargas and Tawa stepping in.
Scary moment but glad it's just a contusion and not concussion protocol. Hope Perdomo's back soon, D-backs need him down the stretch.
