Early county results show mixed levy votes and tight local races

Preliminary results from the Nov. 3, 2026, elections showed local contests shaped by tax and funding questions. In Tennessee’s Maury County, early voting set a midterm record, and Columbia councilman Charlie Huffman narrowly overtook incumbent Randy McBroom in the vice-mayor race after campaigning against steep water-rate increases; Stewart Parker won the mayor’s race by more than 1,600 votes. In Washington’s Walla Walla County, reported turnout was 21%, with voters considering income-tax, school policy, school-district levy and parks levy measures; results remained unofficial ahead of certification. In Oregon’s Umatilla County, voters were narrowly supporting fire-district levies in two districts, while Pendleton’s fire and ambulance levy was trailing; incumbent Commissioner Cindy Timmons held a wide lead.
