Democrats Notch Election Wins in Illinois, Nevada
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker won a third consecutive term, a milestone for an Illinois governor in recent decades, and greeted voters on Election Day alongside Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro. In Nevada, Democrats won three of four called congressional races and led in the traditionally Republican 2nd District, where Teresa Benitez-Thompson held a narrow lead. Independent Maine gubernatorial candidate Rick Bennett said voters were rejecting toxic political rhetoric, and polls put him at 7% to 8%. Arizona politicians, including Sen. Ruben Gallego, Rep. Greg Stanton and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, made Election Day appearances, while two news outlets reported being denied access to the Minnesota Republican Party’s election-night gathering.
