Hurd Edges Ahead of Romero in Colorado District Race
Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District race between Democratic challenger Dwayne Romero and Republican incumbent Jeff Hurd remains too close to call. Romero led in early returns, but by Wednesday morning Hurd had moved ahead 48.6% to 48.2%, a margin of about 1,000 votes, with roughly 19%—nearly 60,000 ballots—still uncounted. The district has leaned Republican and has not elected a Democrat since 2008. Romero campaigned on protecting public lands and opposing Trump administration policies, while Hurd emphasized his work for the district and his willingness to break with Trump on some issues; Hurd briefly lost Trump’s endorsement after disagreeing with him over tariffs, but Trump later endorsed him again. Officials have not called the race, and the remaining ballots could still change the outcome.
